Autowatch 695 supplied and fitted for £299* (see notes below)
Cars and vans that require a Category 1 insurance device can rely on the Autowatch 695. This is a superb quality product, that provides insurance compliance and upgrades your factory supplied Cat 2 immobiliser to a full Cat 1 system. We will provide you with two copies of an MESF duplicate document for insurance. This uses an impression stamp (leaves a quality mark that goes through all four copies), you get two of these and allows you to send one to your insurance company for proof of accredited installer fitting.
For a device to be a Thatcham 1 alarm it needs to be tested by the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre (MIRRC) based at Thatcham. These upgrade alarms are different from regular Thatcham alarms as they are designed to accommodate modern cars with digital system management.
Most modern cars use a CANBus loop system for all electrical services throughout the vehicle. This cuts down on wiring and power required throughout the car, but means that individual functions act together as one system. When it comes to installing a Thatcham compliant device, the only choice is use an upgrade system that works with the CANBus configuration.
Upgrade alarms protect the doors though the CAN but add ultrasonic interior sensors and a siren. They also rely on the vehicle remote supplied at the time of manufacture. When some vehicles are originally supplied with one remote and one key to manually open the doors, upgrade remotes can be bought from us. However please be aware that these new remotes are unable to unlock the car doors. In reality this means that should a single factory remote be broken, then you disarm the car with the new remote, but open the doors with the original key. Customers can then safely drive to the local dealer to purchase a replacement remote.
Depending on the vehicle it may be possible with this system to temporarily disable the ultrasonic interior sensors ‘pet mode’. Different cars may do this in different ways, for example Ford Transit requires a turn on/off of the ignition 3 times, however Fiat Ducati and Mercedes Viano or Vito can do this from the factory remote. Please ask for your vehicle’s individual possibilities.
With the Autowatch upgrade alarms it is possible to add wireless sensors. This is most useful to protect habitation, or garage doors on motorhomes or unique vehicle builds. For these customers need to change the small batteries when necessary. These alarms also allow a PIR movement sensor to be added, giving a second area of interior protection ideal for long vehicles or again unique designs.
